Wearing
her Electoral Roll Officer's hat, Denise is in the throes
of compiling a new roll. This is required by Church
Law to take place every six years. At our annual Parochial
Church meeting each year the roll numbers are displayed
and deletions due to death and moving away from the
parish are made to the existing roll. IN case you happen
to be unaware, by enrolling you become a voting member
of the Church of England. In so-doing you help to ensure
that all the synodical councils of the Church - the
parochial church council the deanery synod, the diocesan
synod and the General Synod are fully representatives
of its members.
The
system is intended to enable church people at every
level to be in touch with the Church as a whole and
to play their part in decision making. The system is
also intended to ensure that the laity have their place
in every aspect of church life, including its doctrine
and service. If you have not completed a form and would
like to do so for any of the aforementioned reasons
then please telephone the Rectory for a form.
Our
annual parochial meeting is on Tuesday 16th april. Please
do try to come along; the carrot is that at the end
of the meeting cheeses and wine will be served, over
which you will be able to discuss at leisure all that
has happened at the preceding meeting!
A
plea on behalf of our new editor* Tina, who I am sure
you will agree is doing a wonderful job. However, in
order to present a magazine each month, Tina needs articles.
Surely someone out there has an opinion about something
or a funny story or observation which they would like
to share. If so, please get the material to Tina by
the 17th of each month. Come on - get writing!
On
a lighter and more positive note, I am sure you were
as impressed as I with the music produced by the choir
over Easter. Led very ably by our new musical direction,
Gina Eason, our thanks to the choir and Gina for all
their hard work.
Your
friend and Rector,

Rector is referring here to the editor of the Headley
with Box Hill Parish Magazine not BOX HILL NEWS.
