BOX HILL NEIGHBOURHOOD COUNCIL
The Box Hill Neighbourhood Council was formed almost 30 years ago by a group of caring residents who wanted to bring together the residents of Box Hill to establish a focal point for the benefit of the whole community.
Perhaps, in more recent years B.H.N.C. is best known for organising the Box Hill Village Fair that helps provide sponsorship of various local community projects and the Christmas Carol Evening at the Village Hall that provides the funds for the Children’s Christmas Party. In reality this hard but enjoyable work is just part of what B.H.N.C. is about.
Over the years it has monitored development applications and proposed changes to local social services. It has arranged public meeting for the local residents to air their views on various matters including such things as protecting this area of outstanding natural beauty from inappropriate developments, preservation of St Andrews Church built by local for local people, changes to local hospital facilities and then followed these up with representations to the appropriate authorities.
The committee members are all unpaid volunteers who give their time because they enjoy being part of the diverse and thriving community of Box Hill. In addition to the main Committee there is an Events Sub-committee specifically for organising the Box Hill Village Fair, Christmas and other events. Any resident of Box Hill can apply to become a member of the B.H.N.C. Committee or the Events sub-committee and contribute as much or as little time as they are able.
